Home>Mental and Physical Pollution Mental And Physical
Pollutions
Air Pollution (smog) is the most apparent type
of pollution. Industry and automobile emissions in the air causes
all kinds of health problems especially respiratory problems. Along
with Illegal dumping of toxic waste into the lands, lakes, rivers
and oceans, and deforestation is seriously poisoning our drinking
and food supply and causing global warming and damaging the ozone
layer.
Despite the media attention and international
governments working together to stop this pollution of the earth,
it continues to happen daily. You might be surprised to know
that everyday you are bombarded with pollution of a different kind.
After all, the capitalistic system by its own nature is based on
greed.
Everyday you are exposed to the pollution of
your mind and body. Drugs, cigarettes, alcohol,
chemical-based-food, fumes, noise, violent addictive video games
(mostly kids), negative irresponsible commercials, bad TV shows and
movies, even soaps and shampoos, all can pollute your body as well
as your mind.
Cigarettes are physically addictive and when
your body does not receive them it gets angry. The pollution
you have ingested into your body can affect how you treat your
friends and even your family. Clinical studies have been done
showing the seriously damaging effects of cigarettes on the human
body and the powerful addictive chemicals that they contain.
Drugs and alcohol work the same way on people
and their affects are even a more devastating to your mind and
body. Alcoholism is causing untold suffering from violence to
care accidents and people addicted to drugs often become criminals
stealing to get money for their drugs or they prostitute themselves
emotionally and even physically to the people supplying them the
drugs.
Have you looked at the labels of the foods you
buy? Those quick fix meals you like so much are probably
chock full of additives and preservatives, some of which may be
harmful. Many soft drinks and energy drinks contain
substitute sugars and syrups known to cause diseases in laboratory
animals yet they remain in the recipe.
In America there are many headlines in
newspapers and the internet all touting the obesity crisis in the
United States. There are even shows on television where
people have a contest to lose the most weight! Yet no one
addresses the root issue, what people are putting into their bodies
on a daily basis.
The best thing you can do for yourself is to drink pure filtered
water. Avoid the sodas and other sugar filled chemical
infested drinks which are poisoning your body over time.
Focus your food intake on organic foods; whole meats grown without
hormones, fresh vegetables, and fruits. Find a bakery that
uses the freshest organic ingredients.
Pay attention to the things you put onto your
body. Many soaps and shampoos have toxins and other so called
"cleaning" agents that are bad for your body and some of them do
get ingested through your skin. Read the labels and try to
find products that are "all natural" and "100% organic". This
is the way you can be sure you are keeping yourself free of this
type of pollution.
Additionally, there are the mental and spiritual
pollutions which exist in just about every tradition and every
culture but there is that common theme all over the world which is
lust for possessions, power and sex. Although they are legitimate
needs, they have the tendency to blinden people and pollute their
intentions and cause them to go beyond limits. If not checked by
the GOD'S guidance and the truth, goodness, and righteousness they
will make life a living hell to everyone.
Television and other media portray success as
doing well in sports or business or even politics and these people
are held up as our heroes. Yet how many of these "heroes"
truly have found happiness? Why is the suicide rate so high
among the self proclaimed "rich and famous"? Why are the
newspapers splashed with stories of addiction and infidelity?
It is not freedom and success these people have
found, it is slavery. Slavery to the pollution that led them
to believe they would be happy. Like the drug addict they
look for the next possession, the next conquest that will bring
them the elusive happiness they seek, yet they can never find.
All of this pollution is very overwhelming but
you can take steps to minimize the impact on your life by
reconsidering and taking it easy. Be well informed and take action.
One step at a time. De-stress and detox. Eat whole foods,
drink pure water, get enough fresh air, make sure you get enough
quality sleep, maintain the right weight and exercise as much as
you can. Use all natural soaps and detergents, keep drugs,
cigarettes and alcohol out of your body. Involve yourself in
good works and good causes. You don't need to stop watching
television, but become aware of what you are watching, and if it is
truly appropriate for those around you to watch.
Re-examine your surrounding traditions and
cultures and be aware of media influences, they have a hypnotizing
and misleading powers. Pay attention to the people you call your
friends and the people you are infatuated with and hold up as role
models. With enough re-evaluation, you will realize that many of
them are not good enough to be decent people, let alone role
models.
