Heavy Jump Rope
Jumping rope is one of the best, quickest and most effective ways of getting the entire body moving and into shape. Some people, however, prefer to add a new twist onto the old routine to pump up the exercise’s ability to increase strength, endurance and overall fitness. This addition is a heavy jump rope.
Heavy jump ropes still provide all the benefits regular jump ropes do, but they add in a few more. Let’s look at all of the advantages of adding a heavy jump rope into an exercise routine:
-
Endurance. Jumping rope with a heavy rope or any jump rope for that matter can help build stamina and endurance. The better you get with the it, the more your body will be able to handle. Build up slowly and remember to have fun along the way.
-
Weight loss. Jumping rope can burn an impressive 1,000 calories an hour. While most people won’t jump that long, the benefits are still amazing. Heavy ropes adds a little more resistance to the workout and provides a bit of a challenge a regular weighted rope won’t.
-
Agility, coordination. You don’t have to have the grace of a gazelle to get started, but as you go along, jumping rope with a heavy jump rope or otherwise will help increase agility and coordination. The more you practice, the better you will get.
-
Muscle tone, strength. Jumping is a great way to get just about the entire body into shape. When you use a heavy one, the benefits can be even more impressive. Heavy jump ropes will help you increase your arm and wrist strength while also giving you one heck of a cardiovascular workout.
-
It’s just plain fun! There’s something about jump roping that’s fun no matter how old you are. Whether you’re 10 or 60, jumping rope is an ideal and inexpensive way to get into shape.
If getting into shape is your goal, jumping rope can really help. Increasing overall endurance, agility and fitness, jumping rope is a fun and easy way to get started. If a little more challenge and resistance are desired, consider adding a heavy jump rope to the routine.
