The Bad Effects Of
Cigarette Smoking
It is a well established fact that smoking
cigarettes is very bad for your health and the health of those
around you. Each stick contains hundreds of carcinogens that
negatively affect your body. Once you begin to smoke
cigarettes you become addicted. The power of theses toxic
chemicals keep you needing more and more of the nicotine and other
addictive chemicals. Despite the fact that the long term
effects of smoking have been proven and tested, people continue to
smoke.
Smoking not only affects your body and mood, but
is the single most preventable cause of death. Specifically,
if you have high cholesterol and smoke you have two major
controllable risk factors against you. Studies have shown
that smoking lowers the good cholesterol in a person's body, which
increases the risk factor for heart disease. There are other risk
factors, such as cancer, being overweight, lack of physical
activity and high blood pressure.
Smoking decreases your ability or tolerance for
physical activity, i.e., you get tired faster, will start coughing,
etc. Lack of physical activity makes it harder for an
individual to obtain a good level of cholesterol and fitness. After
a person quits smoking, their risk factors are cut in half after a
year of no smoking. The longer you do not smoke, the lower
your risk factors to heart disease or other diseases decreases.
Additionally, second hand smoke is also
dangerous. In fact, many studies have shown that second hand
smoke can be even more toxic than the smoke the person inhaling the
cigarette ingests. So by lighting up, smokers with friends
and children are placing those loved ones at serious risk..
The chances are you know someone who has
contracted cancer who was a smoker. Although not always lung
cancer, smokers have much greater risk of contracting cancer than
those are smoke free yet people continue to smoke.
Although it takes longer for your lunges to
return to its natural states, the positive thing about quitting
smoking is that the lungs will regenerate themselves and "clean"
themselves. What this means is that if you are able to quit
smoking your lungs will clean up over time..
Smoking is also extremely expensive.
Depending on where you live in the world a pack of 20 cigarettes
can cost between $3 and $5 USD depending on the brand you
smoke. If you smoke a pack a day that is between $80 and $120
per month! If you smoke 2 packs a day you can double that and
multiply by 12 or between $1000 and $20Yes... I00 per year on
something that not only useless but has been proven to poison your
body and make you and your loved ones very sick!
The addictive power of cigarettes has actually
spawned a niche industry and now companies are making profits
helping people get off of their addiction to smoking. While
many of these patches, gums, and fake cigarettes may work many are
just temporary trying to ensure you use their products more time
which improves their profits.
Allow me to again emphasize the fact that you do
not no what you are missing until you quit this bad and poisonous
habit. Surely it will be challenging and frustrating at first bu,
as soon as you quit, you will start realizing the benefits and with
patience and dedication, every passing day will feel better than
the previous one in terms of your breathing ability, seeing
ability, smelling ability, exercising ability and your over-all
physical and mental health.
The bottom line is the best way to quit smoking
is to NEVER GET STARTED! Smoking doesn't make you cool and it
does not make you in a better mood or smarter in any way. All it
does is make you feel a bit numb and dizzy, smelling bad and
increasingly sick. The opposite is true and eventually it
will make you very sick and even kill you if you do it long enough
so don't start and if you are already smoking then make it your
mission of most priority to stop asap. Keep trying seriously until
you over-come and achieve VICTORY. It will be one of the best
decisions you make in your life and you will not only gain back
your precious health but, you will gain more confidence AND you
will enjoy life more. Smoke addiction is a form of slavery, free
yourself.
